Reasons You Should Avoid Parking Lot Auto Body Repairs And Go To A Collision Center Instead

If you have dings, dents, or other imperfections on the body of your automobile, having a mobile mechanic come to you to make the repairs sounds ideal. They may state that they can make the needed repairs while you are at work or at your child's sporting event. However, auto body repair is something that you want done in a certified collision center, not a parking lot or your driveway. Here are a few of the reasons why.

The Equipment Needed to Fix Auto Bodies Is Not Easy to Move

One of the top reasons why you should avoid parking lot auto body repairs is because the equipment that is needed to properly repair automobiles is not easy to move. As such, many parking lot auto body repair companies use fillers, rather than attempting to pull or suction out the dent. Fillers have a place, but they should be used if other dent removal techniques do not work. They should not be the go-to option, as they simply cover up the imperfection, instead of addressing the structural problems that the ding or dent may have created.

Dirt, Dust, and Debris Can Affect Paintwork

Another reason why you should avoid having auto body work completed in your driveway or a parking lot is that paintwork can be affected by flying debris, including dirt, dust, and pollen. Most auto body repairs require touch-up or paint matching to be completed. Paintwork should always be done in a sterile environment to prevent bubbling, peeling, or other flaws and imperfections. Painting a car outside is not sterile.

You May Not Be Able to Find the Mobile Mechanic If You Have Problems

The final reason why you should avoid parking lot auto body repairs is that you may not be able to find a mobile mechanic if you have problems with the work they completed. When you go to a collision center for repairs, you know exactly where to return to if you encounter any issues with the work they completed. The same is not true if you use a mobile mechanic.

While it may sound very convenient to use a mobile mechanic for your auto bodywork, the risks far outweigh the convenience. If you have dings, dents, or imperfections in the body or paint of your automobile, you should bring your vehicle to a collision center. They are best equipped to repair your car and fix the paint, helping to ensure your car looks as good as possible.
